Project Two

London was built around the River Thames, and the owners’ of this flat in a converted warehouse loved to look at the river outside. The clients’ niece, Sally Rendel, had come up with the idea of raising the floor level so the river was visible whilst seated, and this simplified access to the upstairs bedroom allowing the the formation of a small glazed balcony which sits over a Study/visitor’s bedroom, shielded from the Living Room by a glass screen, clear in the day or opaque at night. The brickwork was repointed and then sealed and otherwise the finishes kept as plain as possible, so as not to distract from the view.
